SO SEW EASY COMPETITION

22 May 2014

Deby at So Sew Easy is hosting the 'Make it Yours'
Clutch bag competition. She provides a wonderful pattern for the clutch bag.  Once you've made your bag you can add your own embellishments to make it your own.

I used a fent from my stash.  I've been hanging on to  this fabric wondering what I could create from it.  I had to join it so it was one continuous piece.
 Not too noticeable I think.
Bright lemon lining for the inside.

I was considering using these beads to decorate the bag,  my OH kindly removed from an old necklace.
But after all his hard work I remembered I had a brooch I was going to send to the charity shop.  So I cleaned it up and attached it to the front of the bag.

 Now for the big reveal.
I had accidentally printed out the pattern as one small A4 size originally.   So I decided to make use of this and make a matching purse.
I added three of the beads that my OH removed from the necklace. However one seems a bit camera shy.

So what did I think of this pattern. In a word brilliant. I will definitely be making another bag and most likely matching purse.  The instructions are really clear. Just take it step by step and you have your own bespoke bag in no time.

A thank you has to go out to Julie at Sum of their Stories who blogged about the competition.  If you haven't visited her part of the blogging world check her lovely blog out.  Loads of crafty ideas of all different kinds.

  3. Hi Ali, your bag and purse are gorgeous, I love the bright lining and the join is in the perfect place so no one will ever know it's not supposed to be there! The beads are a great idea (I may steal that from you for my next attempt) I'm so glad you gave the pattern a go, and liked it as much as I did.

    1. Thanks Suzanne. I wore my flowery red dress to see Paloma, I was hoping there would be lots of dressed up people as she so quirky with her fashion but lots of older men for some bizarre reason.

  7. Hi Ali,
That is a perfect seam match that you have there. I used to have a beaded brooch similar to the one you used on a coat. I wonder where it went. I shall take a look at this. Hope you are ok.

    1. Good luck digging out your brooch. I got this one from a second hand market in the 80's so I don't know how old it is. Although it gives away my age saying I got in the 80's :)
